Police took a Jasper man into custody after they say he was caught drinking alcohol in the aisle of a local grocery store.

Jasper Police were called to the north side Walmart at 3:05 pm about this incident. JPD says 38-year-old Jonathan Holt had opened a bottle of Captain Morgan and tasted it before trying to leave the store without paying for it. Holt was detained by store personnel before police arrived.
