Marlene M. Merder, age 70 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 10:28 a.m. on Thursday (October 29. 2015) at home.

Merder, MarleneMarlene was born  in Ferdinand, Indiana on September 15, 1945 to August and Alma (Schnell) Brosmer.   She married Tony Merder on June 29, 1963 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, IN.

Marlene was a private home health care provider.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper and their St. Ann’s Society, the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella,  the VFW Post #673 Auxiliary, and the Women of the Jasper Moose Lodge 1175.

She enjoyed bingo, working in her flower garden, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Devon and Delany Merder; Shelby, Carly, and Riley Merder; Colten and Chloe Berger; Corbyn, Maddox, Raynie, and Kinley Schnell

Preceding her in death were two sisters, Martha Rickelman and Shirley A. Barth.

Funeral services for Marlene Merder will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday (November 2, 2015) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, IN, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, Indiana.

Friends may call from 4:00-7:00p.m. on Sunday (November 1, 2015) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.  The St. Ann’s Society  and Jasper Daughters of Isabella will pray a rosary at 3:45 p.m.  The Women of the Jasper Moose will perform a memorial service at 6:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
