Both drivers suffered injuries and were transported to a hospital after their involvement in a two vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon at the Holland Junction.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says just after 5 pm 51-year old Lisa Hendrixson of Holland  was headed westbound on St Rd 64 at the junction and was attempting to turn her SUV left in order to go South on St Rd 161.

Deputies say in doing so Hendrixson failed to yield to an eastbound pickup driven by 23-year old Kyle Hagen of Huntingburg and the vehicles struck nearly head on in the Eastbound lane of St Rd 64.

Police say after the collision Hendrixson’s SUV spun 180 degrees and came to rest near the Southeast corner of the intersection while Hagan’s truck spun almost 180 degrees and came to rest in the Westbound lane of St Rd 64.

Deputies say Hendrixson complained of pain to her arm and shoulder while Hagen suffered scrapes to the head and shoulder and sustained a possible head injury. Both were taken to Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Authorities closed State Roads 64 and 61 for about 50 minutes while the scene was cleared.

Both vehicles were a total loss.

Deputies cited Hendrixson for Failure to Yield the Right of Way.

Huntingburg First Responders and Memorial EMS assisted at the scene.
