In the spirit of next week’s #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back, the Dubois County Community Foundation will launch 12 Days of Giving, a year end blitz of 12 days of granting, a total of $12,000 to local charities.

Starting on tomorrow December 2, the day after #Giving Tuesday, the Foundation will be giving away a $1,000 grant daily to a local nonprofit.

The initiative will last 12 days, concluding on December 17 with the final grant recipient being selected by the public on the Foundation’s Facebook page.

Now in its fourth year, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

Nona Baker, the Director of Programs at the Community Foundation says the goal of this effort is to reward organizations who continue to do the right things to build a stronger nonprofit and who consistently improve the landscape of the community through their mission.

The selected nonprofit will be announced daily at 4pm on the Community Foundation’s Facebook page and in the local media. Nonprofits need not apply, but have been predetermined by Foundation staff and volunteers. The public will decide the final selection.
