A proposed landfill for Waupaca Foundry will soon go under the public’s eye.

The Indiana Development of Environmental Management plans to hold a hearing in regards to the landfill idea next Wednesday at the Tell City-Perry County Library.

In a letter submitted to IDEM by the company’s parent project developer, TRC Solutions of Madison, WI last August, the company explained they are expanding Waupaca’s current restricted waste landfill in Troy with a new site across the county. The proposed location is located on a property along the junction of State Roads 37 & 70.

In that letter, Waupaca states their existing disposal sites are nearing capacity and will be closed for the next few years, with surrounding lands unfit for expansion because of elevations.

Waupaca estimates the new landfill will allow up to 25 years of operation. IDEM asks those interested in submitting comments to send them to Permit Manager John Hale of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Permits, 100 North Senate Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46504-2251

Hale can also be reached by calling 800-451-6027 EXT 2-887 or you can email him at jhale@idem.in.gov.
