A pair of organizations are both offering a total of 10-thousand dollars for the individual who helps them find the person or persons that broke into and set fire to a Jasper home about three and a half weeks ago.

Back in the Morning of Sunday February 21st officers with the Jasper Police Department were called to a home located along the 1400 Block of Dewey Street where police say a male suspect entered the home and took some items while the occupants were sleeping.

They say the suspect then started a fire near a rear door in the home using an accelerant prior to exting the residence.

Police say the residents were able to extinguish the fire with minimal damage to the house.

A police investigation is on going with the assistance of the Jasper Fire Department, the Indiana State Fire Marshall’s Office and Evidence technicians with the Indiana State Police.

Police say the International Association of Arson Investigators, Indiana Chapter 14, in cooperation with the Indiana State Fire Marshal and area property insurance companies are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

On top of that, the Community Strike Force Against Crime is offering an additional $5,000 in the case, therefore the combined total of the reward is now 10-grand.

Also the Jasper City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance as they look into the reported vandalism and break-in of the concession stand and press box at the Jasper Middle School football field.

Police say the incident is believed to have taken place sometime between March 11th and the 14th.
