With an enthusiastic crowd applauding and collectively requesting the group to “play another song”, the The Cold Stares, a Nashville, Tennessee based rock group returned to the stage during Saturday night’s sold out concert at the Astra Theatre in downtown Jasper.

CAM01514 This crowd of all ages embraced The Cold Stares, melody blues of lead guitarist, Chris Tapp, whose guitar paralleled to the beats of bass drummer, Brian Mullins, as the audience gathered at the Astra Theatre. Before the crowd heard from The Cold Stares the local opening act was preformed by Kyle Lueken.

Lueken shares that music was inherited to him by his family as they are familiar with music and playing instruments themselves.

 

Tapp and Mullins, from The Cold Stares, tie in their support to the empowering cause The Next Act is doing for the Astra Theatre.

 

In addition, The Cold Stares described their journey as musicians of simply being fans of music that drives their desire to be a band and musicians. CAM01526

Both Lueken and The Cold Stares were presented by The Next Act, the two acts were the first musical performers to play on the newly name Jim & Pat Thyen Performance Stage in the Astra.

The Next Act group also carried out a fundraising campaign at the event. The campaign initiative is geared towards the renovation of the theatre whose needed repairs include electrical, air conditioning, and other general renovation needs.

Board President Marc Steczyk, was pleased with Saturday’s successful turn-out.


Next Act Chairperson, Leslie Hamby, talks about the goals the group is looking to achieve in restoration efforts for the Theatre.
