The Dubois County Solid Waste District says they are in search of volunteers to help clean roadside ditches as well as creeks Saturday around the county.

Soild Waste Distrcit Director Carla Striegel-Winner says more volunteers are needed for various tasks, like picking up litter off the road sides and lifting large items out of creeks.

She says volunteers will be assigned a location based on their preference.

Those interested can meet at 8:30 Saturday morning at the district process center, 1103 S. County Road 350W, Jasper to get their assignment and supplies; doughnuts will be provided.
it is recommended that those taking part wear sturdy shoes or boots and long pants, and pickup trucks would be helpful. All other supplies will be provided.

Everyone will come back to the process center 11:30 am for door prizes.

Pre-registration is requested to ensure there are plenty of supplies available for workers.

Volunteers can register by contacting the Dubois County Soil and Water Conservation District at judi.brown@in.nacdnet.net or 812-482-1171 ext. 3.
The first 50 to register will receive a $10 voucher to use toward the cost of recycling or disposing items brought to the process center within 30 days of Saturday’s cleanup.

This is the first year for the Dubois County Creek Sweep. It is sponsored by the conservation district and solid waste district with assistance from the Dubois County Highway Department and Jasper Stormwater Department.
