Francis R. Ebenkamp, age 91 of Jasper, IN, passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7th, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Jasper, IN.

Frank was born in Jasper, IN on July 14, 1925 to Frank and Rose (Brockman) Ebenkamp. He married Patricia Dishinger on April 21, 1951 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. She preceded him in death on November 12, 2010.

Frank was a Navy Corpsman attached to the Fifth Marine Division which fought on Iwo Jima in WWII. He was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Jasper VFW Post #673, the American Legion Post #147, and the Southern Indiana Leathernecks Detachment of the Marine Corps League.

He was a member of the Jasper Kiwanis, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, and the Jasper Knights of Columbus.

He was a huge supporter of Jasper High School sports, and was known for his black and gold overalls and leading his cheer of “Alright, Alright, Alright, OK, OK, OK, Alright, OK, Go Cats, Go”

He enjoyed playing tennis, loved to volunteer his time to community events, and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

Surviving is one son, Scott Ebenkamp and wife Shannon of Jasper, and three Grandchildren, Abby, Sam, and Kayce Ebenkamp.

Preceding him in death beside his wife were three sisters, Mildred Blessinger, Loretta Jacob, and Cyrilla Birk, and one brother Erwin Ebenkamp

A Mass of Christian Burial for Frank Ebenkamp will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. The Jasper VFW Post #673 will conduct military gravesite rites.

A visitation will be held from Noon until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN. The Southern Indiana Leathernecks Detachment of the Marine Corps League will hold a memorial service at 4:00 p.m.
