Harold Wellmeyer, 85, of Holland, Indiana passed away at 2:00 a.m., on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at his home.

Harold was born May 9, 1931, in Stendal to the late Herbert and Ethel Wellmeyer. He grew up attending St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal and began attending Zoar United Methodist Church after his marriage to Roberta Weitkamp on June 17, 1961.

Harold Graduated from Stendal High School in 1949. He served in the Army, until his honorable discharge in 1956, as a Staff Sergeant assigned to the Atomic Artillery Unit stationed at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas and Baumholder, Germany. He worked for more than 25 years at Holland Dairy where he retired in 1993. Harold loved hunting, fishing and taking rides at night to count deer, wild turkeys, and, in recent years, bald eagles. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carla Jo Wellmeyer; and sister, Mable Borman of Boonville.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Roberta Wellmeyer; daughter, Connie Wellmeyer of Evansville; son, Jeff Wellmeyer of Holland; sisters, Rosemary Latta of Brazil and Ruth (Leon) Rauscher of Huntingburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Memorial Hospital in Jasper and Kindred Hospice for the excellent care they provided.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.S.T., on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Zoar United Methodist Church in Zoar with Pastors Keith Chanley and Cindy Keck officiating. Burial will be in Zoar Cemetery. The Holland American Legion Post #343 will conduct military graveside rites.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Friday; and at church from 9:00-10:00 a.m., Saturday. Memorials can be made to Zoar United Methodist Church. Condolences may be shared online at: www.nassandson.com
