A chase in Huntingburg this morning involving authorities and a motorcyclist from Holland ended with the man’s arrest on various charges.

Indiana State Police say just before 8:30 this morning a trooper was patrolling State Road 64 just west of Huntingburg when he observed a blue Yamaha motorcycle driven by 43-year old Daniel Aaserud of Holland traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed.

The trooper activated his emergency lights in an attempt to pull over Aaserud, but police say he accelerated away at speeds over 100 miles per hour.

They say the trooper continued pursuing the fleeing Aaserud onto Styline Drive, County Road 500 South, and eventually County Road 400 West, where they say Aaserud turned into the parking lot at Styline in an attempt to hide from authorities.

The trooper found Aaserud hiding between a truck and the building, and placed him into custody without incident.

Police say Aaserud was driving on a suspended license, had expired motorcycle license plates, and was wanted on a writ through Pike County for failing to pay child support.

He was taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security Center Jasper on a Level 6 Felony count of Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle and misdemeanor counts of Driving While Suspended with a Prior Conviction and Reckless Driving.

He is being held on a 750-dollar cash bond.
