Martha A. Roesner, age 75, passed away at 7:58 p.m., on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at her residence in Holland.

She was born in Washington, Indiana on September 10, 1941, to Frank and Alma (Carey) Shawhan. She was united in married to Darrell Gene Roesner on December 1, 1957, at the Lutheran Church Parsonage in Holland. Martha worked at the Holland Dairy, Dubois County Daily Herald, Walmart, Shamrock Printing Press and was a school bus driver for the Warrick and Dubois County school systems for over 40 years. She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Holland and enjoyed crocheting, listening to books of tape, gardening, hunting, fishing, boating and cooking. Martha and Darrell enjoyed being exchange student hosts, and over the years have hosted over 20 exchange students from all over the world. She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Doug Begle; and sister-in-law, Gayla Shawhan.

Martha is survived by her husband, Darrell Roesner of Holland; two daughters, Penny (Randy) Wilhite of Evansville and Anita (Gordon) Woebkenberg of Ferninand; four siblings, Carolyn Moore of Jasper, Patty (Ron) Erwin of Evansville, Jackie (David) Hasenour of Ireland and Tony Shawhan of Dale; four grandchildren, Logan (Josie) Begle, Leitha (Mark) Majewicz, Lora Woebkenberg, Taylor “TJ” Woebkenberg; and three great grandchildren, Jayce, Addison and Leo.

Funeral services for Martha Roesner will be held at 6:00 p.m., E.D.T., on Thursday evening, March 23, 2017, at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland; interment will be at a later date. Pastor David Darling will officiate at the service.

Friends may call for visitation at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland from 2:00-6:00 p.m., E.D.T., on Thursday, the day of the service. Nass & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church.
