Huntingburg: The Sixth Annual Garden Gate Festival and the OFS Brands Jazzed UP 5K scheduled for this Saturday April 22nd is cancelled due to weather. After much deliberation throughout the week the festival committee decided to cancel the event late Thursday night. A rescheduled date for both events has been set for July 15th. This date also coincides with the Huntingburg Merchants Sidewalk Sales. All admission tickets already given out will be honored for the rescheduled date.

According to Huntingburg Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Sara Schroeder the decision was based on the forecast of all day rain and lower temps. Unfortunately, it is difficult for bands to play in these conditions. The Chamber was receiving calls throughout the week from vendors and volunteers who were worried about the weather conditions. Ultimately it was necessary to consider the safety and financial concerns of all our vendors and participants.

Over the years, a portion of the proceeds from the Garden Gate Festival have been put back into the Huntingburg Community. The 4th Street Endowment has received $10,000 and a check for $25,000 was presented to the Stellar Endowment-Market Street Project this morning.

While the Garden Gate Festival and Jazzed Up 5K have been cancelled there is still a lot going on in Downtown Huntingburg. Everyone is encouraged to visit our local restaurants and businesses. We encourage people to check social media and the Garden Gate Website at www.gardengatefestival.com throughout the weekend as other local events are updated.
