Simon C. Voges Jr., age 73 of Jasper, IN, passed away at 9:20 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper, IN.

Simon was born in Evansville, IN on February 16, 1944 to Simon A. and Frieda (Jasper) Voges. He married Martha J. Buechler on October 7, 1967 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He retired as a butcher and had previously worked in insurance sales.

Simon was a Indiana Army National Guard Veteran (Ret) and a member of the American Legion Post #147 in Jasper and their Military Honor Guard.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, the St. Joseph Holy Name Society, a past Grand-Knight of the Jasper Knights of Columbus, and the Jasper Jaycees.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Surviving are his wife Martha Voges, Jasper, two sons, Kevin Voges of Evansville, and Brian Voges of Terre Haute and fiancé Jamie Bolton. Four grandchildren, Emily and Aaron Voges, and Adam and Sarah Voges.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Eileen Nordhoff and LaVerne Knies.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Simon C. Voges Jr. will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery Jasper. The Jasper American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN. The St. Joseph Church will lead a rosary at 1:45 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the American Diabetes Association, or to a favorite charity.
