Emily G. Platt, age 93, of Jasper, Indiana, passed on Sunday morning, June 11, 2017 in Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois.

Emily was born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 23, 1923 to James Blaha and Marie (Weber) Platt. She married Harry Platt on October 16, 1943 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1990.

Emily was a homemaker and member of Trinity United Church of Christ and their Women’s Guild.

She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and had a passion for volunteering her time to organizations including the Dubois County Humane Society, American Eagle Foundation, and Angel Works. She was also a Cub Scout and 4-H Leader as well as a RSVP Tri-Cap Volunteer.

She enjoyed visiting and playing cards with the mentally challenged at SIRS, visiting people in area nursing homes, and started the Ladies Breakfast Group after the passing of her late husband.

Surviving are one son, Randall Platt and wife Victoria, Lake Villa, IL, four grandchildren; Jennifer Griffen, and Steven, Stephanie, and Brittany Platt, and one daughter-in-law Cathy Platt.

Preceding her in death besides her husband, was one son, Bruce Platt, three sisters, Marie, Josephine, Clara and one brother, James.

A funeral service for Emily G. Platt will be held at Noon on Friday, June 16, 2017, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Rev. Jane Hillman will officiate.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the Noon service time at the church on Friday.
