Louis F. “Louie” Lueken age 92 of Celestine, Indiana, passed away at 12:36 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

Louie was born in Schnellville, Indiana on May 4, 1925 to Leo and Bertha (Miller) Lueken.  He married Irene Humbert on April 7, 1951 in St. Celestine Catholic Church.  She preceded him in death on March 31, 2005.

Louie was a U.S. Army  Veteran who served in WWII and is a member of the Jasper VFW Post #673.

He was a retired poultry farmer who worked for Ralph Seger Farms most of his life and also worked for Jasper Wood Products.  He was a former member of the Marion Township Advisory Board and was one of the first members of the Dubois Fire Department Advisory Board.

He was a member of St. Isidore Parish- St. Celestine Campus, the Jasper Knights of Columbus, the Celestine Community Club, the Schnellville  Conservation Club, and the Friends of the Dubois Library.

He enjoyed playing cards,  and riding 4-wheelers and the gator ATV on his farm.

Surviving are two daughters, Marlene Vonderheide (Rick), Celestine, and Beth Humbert (Jim), Dubois, Three sons, Randy “Sonny” Lueken (Linda), Celestine,  Glenn “Jake” Lueken (Melinda), Dubois, Mark Lueken, Celestine, seven  grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one brother, Ray Lueken (Aileen), Celestine, and four Sisters, Theresa Ernst, Ferdinand, Marie Dall (Robert) , Ferdinand, Dorothy Bachman (Eugene), Jasper, and Janice Hurst, Huntingburg, IN.

Preceding him in death was one brother Ralph Lueken, three sisters, Rosemary Lueken who died in infancy and Eileen Schuler and Rosalee Scherle, and  one Grandson, USMC Eric Lueken.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2017, in St. Celestine Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Celestine Cemetery.  The VFW Post #673 will conduct military gravesite rites.

A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Friday at the church.
