Viola C. Schroeder, age 89 of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017 at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
She was born in Jasper, Indiana on October 2, 1927 to Leander and Rose (Dick) Giesler. She married Orville J. Schroeder on May 31, 1939 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He preceded her in death on September 28, 2016.
Viola was employed by Buehler Foods for many years, and then after retirement, was a homemaker.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Blessed Virgin Sodality, and the Jasper D of I.
She enjoyed quilting and cooking, and she loved playing cards and spending time with her family.
Surviving, are three daughters, Cindy Cleveland, Indianapolis, IN, Bev Kuper, and her husband George, Jasper, IN, Debbie Matheis, and her husband, Pat, Jasper, IN, one son, Greg Schroeder, and his wife Michelle, Jasper, IN, five grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, two sisters, Leona Knust, and husband Reynold, Ferdinand, IN, Sr. Mildred Giesler, St. Mary of the Woods, IN, one brother, Sylvester Giesler, and his wife, Irene, Jasper, IN.
Preceding her in death besides her husband are one grandson, Brian Matheis, three sisters, Ardella Heim, Mary Ann Uebelhor, and Florence Neuhoff, and four brothers, Arnold, Edward, Herman and Robert Giesler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, Indiana.
A visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until the 2:30 p.m. service time at the church on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
