Young Abe Lincoln will make its triumphant return to the Lincoln Amphitheatre’s performance stage for the first time since its initial 19-year run ended in 2005.  The celebratory 30th anniversary edition will run on July 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, and 15.  Doors for each performance will open at 6 p.m. central time with a 7 p.m. central show time.

“In planning this year’s diverse lineup of performances, it became increasingly clear that, as the Amphitheatre would be celebrating its 30th anniversary, bringing back Young Abe was not only appropriate, but a priority,” said Marc Steczyk, Lincoln Amphitheatre’s director.

The 30th anniversary edition of Young Abe Lincoln is being presented by Best Home Furnishings and the Lincoln Boyhood Drama Association.

General admission tickets are $18.95 while VIP tickets (preferred parking and seating, a free drink voucher good for Pepsi products or beer/wine, and a commemorative poster) are $26.95.  For a limited time, the promo code “ABE” will unlock a $3 per general admission ticket discount.  Seating for veterans is $14 and senior citizens pricing is $15.95.  Tickets may be purchased online at www.LincolnAmphitheatre.com.  For group discount information or to order tickets over the phone, call 812-937-2329.

Children 12 and under are invited to attend free of charge without the need for a ticket.

Young Abe Lincoln is based upon the original Billy Edd Wheeler script and is being produced by Actors Community Theatre (ACT), a 501c3 not-for-profit organization headquartered in nearby Jasper, Indiana.

There is a planned presentation to Mr. Wheeler just before the show’s finale on July 15, and the production itself will feature a number of alumni from the original 1987-2005 run.

“We’re thrilled to bring Billy Edd Wheeler’s show to life with this powerhouse ensemble. Performing for Mr. Wheeler the night of the finale makes this production even more special,” said Jasmine Ruckriegel, director, Young Abe Lincoln.  “We’ve pulled together a great cast of Lincoln alumni, ACT alumni, and new actors, which has allowed us to learn from one another and grow as an ensemble.  It’s a special experience to tell the tale of Lincoln’s life in Indiana, and we all feel a strong sense of duty to share this incredible story and continue its legacy.”

Additionally, there are special activities that will be held in conjunction with the performances.
