Returning to the Lincoln Amphitheatre’s performance stage for the second consecutive year, the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra (Maestro Alfred Savia, Music Director & Conductor) will perform scores from the John Williams’ film catalog on Saturday, September 2, 2017.  Hear some of the most familiar movie scores the world has ever known—Star WarsSupermanJaws, and more!  The evening will also feature patriotic selections, as well as a number of collaborative pieces with the Heritage Hills High School choir.  The Heritage Hills Jr. High School choir will perform a pre-show beginning at 6:30 p.m. (central).

The evening is being presented in part by Kimball Electronics.

Tickets for the performance are just $19.95 for general admission and $27.95 for VIP (preferred seating and parking, a free drink voucher, and a commemorative event poster) and are available online at www.LincolnAmphitheatre.com or by calling 812-937-2329.  For a limited time, the online promo code “LINCOLN17” will unlock a $2 per general admission ticket discount.  Children 12 and under are welcome to attend the performance free of charge and do not require a ticket of any kind.

“It is an honor to work with the largest arts institution in the tri-stage area,” said Marc Steczyk, Lincoln Amphitheatre’s director.  “That we can also partner local youth and talent with them should also add value to this very special show, as well as create memories that will last a lifetime for the participants.”

“It was truly inspiring for the musicians of the Evansville Philharmonic and me to be back at Lincoln Amphitheatre last year in celebration of Indiana’s Bicentennial.  The setting in Lincoln State Park, the unparalleled acoustics of the Amphitheatre, and the enthusiastic response of the audience made it one of the highlights of the season.  We are delighted to return again this Labor Day weekend to open our 2017-18 season at Lincoln Amphitheatre,” said Maestro Salvia.  “This time the concert will still have a patriotic segment, including our traditional Armed Forces Salute and a truly stirring setting of the Battle Hymn of the Republic for which we are joined by the 90 member Heritage Hills High School Choir.  But the thread that runs through the concert will be the music of America’s greatest film composer, John Williams.  From the opening Liberty Fanfare through the Star Wars finale we present music from John Williams and his films spanning five decades.  Most appropriately for this concert will be a 10 minute suite of music from the great 2012 film, Lincoln, which will include a reading from Abraham Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address by Dean Dorrell.  I can’t imagine a better place to play this music than Lincoln Amphitheatre!”

The doors pen at 5 p.m. central time, the Heritage Hills Jr. High choir will perform at 6:30 p.m. central, and the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra will begin at 7:30 p.m. CST.

The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, founded in 1934, is a professional orchestra comprised of approximately 80 musicians led by Music Director and Conductor Alfred Savia.  Many of the musicians have graduated from the finest music schools in the country, including Indiana University and the University of Evansville.  Each year, the Orchestra treats audiences to a multi-concert season that features the works of classical and pops composers from Beethoven to the Beatles, plus several special event concerts.  The Philharmonic performs concerts from September though May, primarily, at the Victory Theater in Evansville.
