A Jasper man who was being investigated as a suspect in the July theft of a cellphone in Jasper was arrested after he was picked up by authorities in the parking lot of a Jasper retailer Wednesday afternoon.

Jasper police say back on July 22nd a cellphone was reported stolen to police and after investigating the theft, they say a person of interest was obtained as a suspect.

Around 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon that subject 26-year old Angel Luna of Jasper was observed driving through Jasper by a deputy with the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.

The Deputy and an officer with the Jasper Police Department followed the vehicle into the Jasper Walmart Parking lot where a traffic stop was
made.

Police say Luna was found to have an outstanding warrant through Monroe County and was found to be driving on a Suspended License with a Prior conviction for the same.

During a search of the vehicle Luna was driving Jasper officers located the stolen cellphone.

Luna was taken to and booked into the Dubois Co Security Center on the new charges of Theft and Driving While Suspended with a Prior.

Police say he will later be transferred to Monroe County on the outstanding warrant.
