Alexander “Alex” Emmons II, was born in Marion, IN to J. Alexander and G. Ruth (Davis) Emmons.Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judy. He is survived by his wife, Mickie (Cahill) Emmons, his sister, Alexis (Emmons) Fessenden of Marion, IN, his children, Jason and Cindy (Etienne) Emmons of Branchville, IN, Lona and Joseph Moore of O’Fallon, IL, Alex “Buster” and Amber (Mathies) Emmons of Bloomington, IN, Joshua Emmons of Jasper, Sarah and Cory Kraft of Springfield, MO, his 12 grandchildren- Monica, Ethan, Payton, Charles, Macey, Isabella, John, Kaden, Elliana, Isaac, Coralin, Annalise and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Alex was a proud graduate of Marion High School and Indiana University, a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and the IU Student Senate. After a career in hospital administration, he retired from Memorial Hospital in Jasper, IN. Alex also retired as a Chief Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force Reserve with a total of 33 years of service with Active Duty service during Operation Desert Storm. During his retirement years, his most rewarding activity was serving as a substitute teacher at 10th Street School. He considered the students he taught “his kids”.

Alex believed in giving back to the community in which he lived. He did so by serving as a member of the Jasper Lions Club, Jasper Utilities Board and board member and coach of the Jasper Youth Soccer program. Alex coached youth sports in Indianapolis at Little Flower Catholic School and the East Side Soccer Association.

Alex loved sports. He was an avid runner, completing several marathons. His favorite pastime was watching his grandchildren participate in their school events and watching IU sports. He was our #1 fan.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel  in Jasper and from 9:00 a.m. to  service time at the  church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017, in Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family  Catholic Church or to the Jasper  Lion’s Club.
