The Dubois County Medication Collection will take place Saturday, October 28th, as part of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Pharmaceutical Drug Take Back Event.
The Jasper Post of the Indiana State Police located along North Newton Street will host the collection from 10 am till 2 pm while the Celestine Fire Station along East State Road 164, and the Ferdinand Fire Station on East Fourth Street will host from 10 am till 12 noon.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department will supervise the collections at the Celestine and Ferdinand fire stations, and the Indiana State Police will supervise the Jasper Post site.
Also note that the Huntingburg Police Station accepts pharmaceuticals 24/7 in their drop box located at 503 E. First Street.
Expired, unwanted, and unused medications, vitamins, ointments, syrups, drops and aerosols not in pressurized containers will be accepted at the collection sites. No sharp items, infectious materials, (anything containing bodily fluids) or waste will be collected.
The project impacts the substance abuse and environmental stewardship of Dubois County communities.
The sponsors of the collection are the DEA, the Indiana State Police, the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department, the Dubois County Solid Waste Management District, the Substance Abuse Council, fire stations and Tri-Cap.
