Lucas O. Stenftenagel, age 97 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2017 at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana.

Lucas was born in Jasper, Indiana on April 28, 1920 to Henry J. and Eleanora M. (Lechner) Stenftenagel. He married Esther Werne on June 26, 1948 in the St. Meinrad Archabbey in St. Meinrad, IN. She preceded him in death on December 1, 2010.

He retired from the Indiana Desk Company in Jasper after many years of service.

He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper and their Men’s Club.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting.

Surviving are five sisters, Ruth Ann Beck, Jasper, Mary Schitter (Kenneth), Jasper, Anna Mae Hopf (Alfred), Jasper, Patricia Mathies (Delbert), Jasper and Lucille Recker of Ferdinand, two brothers, Joe Stenftenagel (Martha), and Richard Stenftenagel (Helen), both of Jasper.

Preceding him in death beside his wife was one daughter, Bonnie Bleemel, one grandson, Scott Bleemel, one brother, Felix “Jim” Stenftenagel, and two sisters, Dorothy Oeding and Caroline Mehringer.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lucas Stenftenagel will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2017, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, IN, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at Precious Blood Catholic Church on Monday, October 30, 2017.
