Marie C. Ryan, 99 of Ferdinand formerly of Cincinnati passed away Sunday October 1st in Scenic Hills Care Center, Ferdinand. Marie was born September 14, 1918 in St. Meinrad, Indiana to John H. & Mary K. (Fetter) Schaefer. She was united in marriage to Elmer Ryan on June 21, 1947. He preceded her in death on January 9, 1995.

Marie was a former member of St. James Catholic Church in Cincinnati. She was a private specialty chef. Marie enjoyed cooking, bingo, amusement parks, card games, and music. She was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan.

Surviving are two sisters, Verleen “Virlee” Zoglman of St. Meinrad, and Angela “Angie” Ebert of Ferdinand. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elenora Hoffman and Clara Oeding. Four brothers, Arthur, Gilbert, Linus and Alfred “Al” Schaefer.

Funeral services for Marie C. Ryan will be held at 10:00 AM EDT Friday October 6th in St. James Catholic Church, 3565 Hubble Road Cincinnati, OH. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand on Wednesday October 4th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM EDT.
