Ground was broken Wednesday morning for the $8 million Fairfield Inn & Suites in Jasper’s new River Centre Development at the construction site at 2nd and Jackson Streets.

The ceremony was hosted by the City of Jasper and the Jasper Chamber of Commerece and was hosted by Jasper Mayor Terry Seitz along with Co-owners Jane Hendrickson of Boxer Girl, LLC and Jim Dora, Jr. of General Hotels Corporation.

Jasper Chamber Executive Director Nancy Eckerle, Ed Cole, the President of Dubois Strong and Michael Grubb, Vice President, Architecture of Cripe Architects were also on hand to participate.

Utilizing the block kiln building site of the former historic Jasper Cabinet Company on 2nd and Jackson Street, the Fairfield Inn & Suites will operate as a Marriott franchise.

Indianapolis-based General Hotels Corporation will assume management of the hotel’s daily operation upon its completion.

General Hotels President and CEO Jim Dora Jr. says now that ground has been broken the group is ready to move the project forward…..

 

 

Dora says construction should begin within in the next month or two. Jasper based Krempp Construction will be the general contractor along with Cripe Architects of Indianapolis.

As the first Fairfield Inn & Suites in the Jasper area and targeting business travelers, the hotel will feature the brand’s new design and décor, which enhance the guest experience through flexible features, and a warm and welcoming environment.

Nancy Eckerle is the Executive Director of the Jasper Chamber of Commerce and an at-large member of the Jaspert City Council. She says the additional hotel space will provide a big boost and addition to what’s already in demand…..

The 84-room hotel will not only offer guests convenient access to area businesses and attractions, but deliver both function and comfort.
Contemporary guest rooms will feature spacious suites with separate areas for working, relaxing and sleeping as well as in-room mini-refrigerator
and microwave.

Additional hotel amenities will include free Wi-Fi, 24-hour business center, small meeting room, complimentary hot breakfast daily featuring healthy options, complimentary coffee and tea service, swimming pool, whirlpool, fitness room and a 24-hour Market which will offer snacks, drinks, toiletries and other items.

Complimentary surface parking will be available to registered hotel guests.

In addition to the hotel, the River Centre Development includes apartments and retail space including a wide variety of restaurants. The
hotel is scheduled to open late summer 2018.
