A Huntingburg woman was taken into custody on a pair of charges including Leaving the Scene and OWI after she was said to be the driver of a vehicle that left the scene of an accident Monday evening in Huntingburg.

Around 9:30 last night officers with the Huntingburg Police Department were called to the 200 Block of North Van Buren Street in reference to a leaving the scene crash.

A witness was able to provide police with a description of the vehicle and a license plate number that they say came back to Kitty Bieker of Huntingburg.

Police later located the suspected vehicle in a field behind Bieker’s residence. Soon afterwards police found Bieker at her home and she admitted to officers she was the driver in the accident.

Police detected an odor of alcohol and say Bieker failed a field sobriety test.

She was taken to Memorial Hospital in Jasper for a blood draw which measured her blood alcohol content at .10 percent.

She was taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security Center in Jasper on charges of Operating While Intoxicated and Leaving The Scene of an Accident.
