Maurice R. Hopf, age 77, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY.

He was born in Jasper, Indiana on October 19, 1940 to Paul and Rosina (Burger) Hopf.

He married Sharon Jacob on October 24, 1964 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.

Maurice was in the U.S. National Guard, the Ireland Knights of Columbus Council #5581, the Jasper Moose Lodge #1175, director of the Jasper Outdoor Recreation, and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

He worked at Buschkoetters Nursery for 18 years, he was a driver for Uebelhor and Sons, and a retired farmer.

He enjoyed gardening, looking after his cattle, playing cards with the grandkids, dancing, watching the Mollie B Polka Show, IU basketball, and following his kids and grandkids in sports.

Surviving is his wife Sharon Hopf, Jasper, one daughter; Melissa Hopf, Louisville, one Son; Adam (Lisa) Hopf, Jasper, five Grandchildren ; Isaiah Merriwether, Donovan McDade, Reagan Hopf, Gavin Hopf, Cayden Hopf, Sisters; Mildred (Edgar) Oeding, Jasper, Sister-in-law Edna Wigand, Jasper, two Brothers; Donald (Almeda) Hopf, Paul (Camilla) Hopf both of Jasper and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death is one sister Judy Lorey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, December 4th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, IN with entombment to follow at Fairview Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday December 3rd at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The Ireland Knights of Columbus Council #5581 will conduct a Memorial service at the funeral home at 4pm. The Jasper Moose Lodge #1175 will conduct a memorial service at 5:30pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ireland Knights of Columbus Council #5581, Riley Children’s Hospital, or St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
