Edawinna Anne Heeke, age 62, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 2:00 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2018, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

She was born on June 5, 1955 at Huntingburg, Indiana to John and Priscilla (Doerner) Thurman.  She married Bill Heeke on February 16, 1974.  He preceded her in death on September 14, 1999.

Anne was a unit secretary at Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper for 17 years.

She was well known for her volunteer work; the Community Food Bank (1989-2000), She served as past president of the Jasper (Women) Jaycees, (1982 – 1983), (first female) past president of the Jasper Jaycee’s  (1989 – 1990). She did volunteer work with the Jasper Little League concessions and Jasper Band Parents Concessions for many years.  Very active in the Dubois County Democratic Party.

She was the 1993 recipient of the President Community Excellence Award presented by the Jasper

Chamber of Commerce.

One son, Terry (Sherri) Heeke, Murrray, KY

One daughter, Amanda (Mike) Drew, Jasper, IN

Seven grandchildren; Bill, Charlie, Maude, Maris, Burns, Mathilda, Doerner.

One sister, Angela Brooks, Jasper, IN

Two brothers,

Bernie (Tammy) Thurman, Jasper, IN

Step-mother, Jacqueline Thurman, North Vernon, IN

Sister-in-laws;

Carol (Larry) Zehr, Jasper, IN

Rose (Kenny) Leisman, St. Anthony, IN

Mary (Gary) Buffington, Dale IN

And several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her husband Bill Heeke and one brother Alan Thurman.

Mass of Christian Burial for Edawinna Heeke will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Food Bank.
