Franklin H. “Tiger” Becher, 81 of Ferdinand passed away Sunday February 4th in St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, In.  He was born November 3, 1936 in Ferdinand to Othmar & Susan (Seger) Becher. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Blume on August 22, 1959 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

Franklin "Tiger" BecherFranklin was the former owner of Becher Plumbing & Heating. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church and its St. Joseph’s Sodality. Ferdinand American Legion Post 124, St. Meinrad Knights of Columbus # 5599. He was a retired Ferdinand Volunteer Fireman, and was a scorekeeper at Forest Park Basketball for 20 years. He was a long time Forest Park Band Booster. Franklin served in the U.S. Army for 3 years. He was self-employed in plumbing, heating, and roof work for over 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and had the best kept garden in Ferdinand. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife Jeanette Becher, four daughters, Beth Bumm (Ronnie) of Huffman Mill, Joyce Scherzer (Gary) of Perry County, Mary Sue Olinger (Kevin) and Linda Wendholt (Donny) both of St. Anthony. Four sons, Dean (Mary) Becher, Steve (Chris) Becher, Phillip (Amy) Becher and Christopher (Kasey) Becher all of Ferdinand. 23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. One sister, Ruthie Durlauf of Ferdinand and two brothers, Tom Becher of Topeka, KS. And Charles Becher of Paris IL.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Potter and Cyrilla Lueken, one brother, Joe Becher and 3 infant grandchildren.

Funeral services for Franklin Becher will be held in Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church Thursday February 8th at 10:00 AM EST, burial with military graveside rites by Ferdinand Legion Post 124 will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8:00 PM EST Wednesday and from 7 to 9:30 AM EST Thursday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com.
