ISTEP testing has been delayed by one day at Southridge High School after parents of Southridge High School Students received an email from school officials this morning warning them of a threat that had been made toward the school.

Principal at Southridge High School, Chad Sickbert, sent an email early this morning informing parents and students that the school administration had been made aware of a threat made toward the school and that school officials had reported the threat to the Huntingburg Police Department.

Through an investigation the Huntingburg Police Department was able to detain the student thought responsible for the threat.

Police say that the investigation is on going both by the Huntingburg Police and the Southridge High School Administration.

Sickbert told parents, via email, that while the student has been detained, extra precautions are being taken as the school will maintain a current police presence at all Southwest Dubois County School buildings.

Additionally Sickbert noted that while administration officials are confident in how the incident is being handled along with confidence in their building security and safety, school officials recognize the anxiety that this information can cause as it is communicated.

In conclusion Sickbert advised parents and students that ISTEP testing will be postponed for one day at both Southridge Middle and High schools. Testing will proceed as planned at the elementary buildings.
