A member of the Dubois County Council is seeking another four years on the governing body.

Third District councilwoman Charmian Klem of Bretzville in Jackson Township, announced in a release over the weekend she has filed candidacy for a second term to the council.

Klem represents all of Columbia, Hall, Ferdinand, Jackson, Jefferson and Marion Townships.

Klem graduated Summa Cum Laude with Academic Honors from Heritage Hills High School in 1998. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in German and Math Education, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Southern Indiana in 2002.
During the summer of 2002, she studied at the University of Heidelberg, Germany.

She describes serving the residents of District 3 and all of Dubois County as energizing. She says the projects they have undertaken in the last three years have taken much initiative and the results are encouraging.

She says she is excited to continue her service with enthusiasm in order to advance momentum as a county.”

Committees and boards on which Klem serves include the Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission, liaison to the Soil and Water Conservation District, the County Wage/Compensation Study, the Communication Committee and the Employee Satisfaction Survey.

Klem has been a self-employed Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics for 14 years. She also manages accounts for her family’s business, Steckler Grassfed LLC.

Charmian and her husband Barry have three children and has been homeschooling their children since January 2013. A member of Redemption Christian Church in Jasper, Klem’s hobbies include gardening, walking and reading.

Klem has been a volunteer for a number of candidates including State Representatives Lloyd Arnold and Mark Messmer, Lt.Governor Sue Ellspermann, 9th District Congressman Todd Young and Richard Mourdock.

She is a Republican Precinct Committeeperson in Jackson Township.
