Mae  Ilene Metzger, age 79 of Jasper, IN, passed away at 10:10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at St. Charles Health Campus  in Jasper, IN

Mae was born in Daviess County Indiana on December 30, 1938 to William and Helen Marie (Hatfield) Graber.  She married Donald E. Metzger on April 9, 1960 in Bera Mennonite Church in Montgomery, IN.  He preceded her in death on August 31, 2016.

Mae worked as a nurse’s aide, as a telephone operator, and retired from Jasper Rubber Company.  She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper and a member of the Order of Eastern Star 601, where she was a Past Worthy Matron in 1980.  She enjoyed cooking and sewing.  Her favorite hobby was collecting dolls.  She also loved helping the Dubois County Shrine Club with their Quest for a Million Pennies.  Mae loved the Shriners and helping the crippled children in any way she could.

She is survived by her caregivers Ed and Carol Kapp, Irene Kapp, and Michael Cravener, along with her cousins and Shriner buddies.

Preceding her in death beside her loving husband Donald were her parents.

Funeral services for Mae I. Metzger will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.  Pastor Jane Hillman will officiate.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, and from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at Trinity United Church of Christ on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, the Dubois County Food Bank, or a favorite charity.
