Ruth H. Durlauf, 85, of Ferdinand, passed away, Monday, March 12th at her home in Ferdinand.

Ruth was born May 4, 1932 in St. Meinrad to Othmar and Susan (Seger) Becher. Ruth married Jerry Durlauf on September 26, 1953 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. Jerry preceded her in death on November 27, 1998.

Ruth was a graduate of the Academy of Immaculate Conception. She worked many years at Schreiner’s IGA and retired from MasterBrand at the age of 76. Ruth was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church and Ferdinand D of I. She and her husband enjoyed traveling for many years. After his passing she vacationed with all of her children. She loved spending time with her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards.  Ruth enjoyed being outside and tending to her beautiful flowers.

Ruth is survived by two sons, Michael (Zenaida) Durlauf of Fort Walton Beach FL. and Robert Durlauf of Ferdinand; three daughters, Jane (Gary) Oeding of Ferdinand, Susan (Lee) Schmitt of Washington, IN., Diane (Gary)  Lange of Huntingburg; two brothers, Thomas Becher of Topeka, KS. and Charles Becher of Paris, IL.; ten grandchildren, Jeff Durlauf, Erica Hohl, Kelley Hoffman, Brook Lange, Kendyl Lange, Evan Lange, Katie Schmitt, Samantha Hampton, Shawna Durlauf and Sara Durlauf; six great-grandchildren, Ambrose, Alan and Alana Hohl, Jerrison and Raylin Durlauf, Grayson Hampton. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Jerry; one son, James Durlauf; sisters, Mary Ann Potter and Cyrilla Lueken; brothers, Joseph and Franklin Becher.

Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Ferdinand Church. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8:00 PM at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and Monday from 8:00 AM until services at St. Ferdinand Church. Burial of cremains will follow in the church cemetery.
