Anna Mae Messier, age 79, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana.

Anna Mae was born in on December 9, 1938, to Bernard and Clarissa (Steffen) Kreilein.  She married Amedie “Tom” Messier on May 28, 1960, in Jasper, Indiana and he preceded her in death on September 9, 2007.

Anna Mae retired as a Teacher Assistant at Fifth Street School, where she had worked for 20 years.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Sodality of the Blessed Mother, D of I, St. Ann Society, American Legion Auxiliary, where she was past president, VFW Auxiliary, and the Women of the Moose.

She enjoyed playing bingo and going to casinos.

Surviving are two sons, Kurt (Sherri) Messier, Jasper, IN, and Michael (Cindy) Messier, Newburgh, IN, six grandchildren, Heath, Nicholas, and Nate Messier, and Jace, Lucas, and Isaac Messier, three sisters, Marcella Rees, Louise (Levienes) Schitter, and Florence (Delbert) Angerer, all of Jasper, IN, and two brothers, Dennis (Virlee) Kreilein, Jasper, IN, Kenneth (Marge) Kreilein, Celestine, IN.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are two sisters, Alberta Kreilein, and an infant sister.

Funeral services for Anna Mae Messier will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the church.  The D of I and  St. Ann’s will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #147 will hold a memorial service at 6:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
