30-year-old Toby Shelly of Jasper was arrested early this morning after he led Jasper Police on a brief foot chase near a residence on 2nd Street.

Shelly was known to officers to be wanted on multiple warrants. After attempting to stop a vehicle Shelly was traveling in police reported the vehicle attempted to elude officers, pulling into a residence at 2nd Ave with the driver identified as

Shelly fleeing on foot into a nearby wooded area.

Police reported that they were involved in a short pursuit before taking Shelly into custody.

Shelly was found to be in possession of 13 grams of methamphetamine, 3 grams of heroin, 6 hypodermic syringes and paraphernalia at the time of his arrest this morning.

In addition to facing multiple warrants for dealing Shelly now faces multiple charges of dealing, possession and a charge of resisting law enforcement.

He is being held in the Dubois County Security Center.
