Last night the Huntigburg City council approved a change order for Market Street park in order to set the completion dates for the project.

October 10th has been set as the substantial completion date.

Structurally, the construction will be finished. Most of what will still need to be accomplished after that point will be aesthetic, such as the roof on the Performance Pavilion and pavers.

Concrete will be in place, so the park will be pedestrian safe in time for Haunted Huntingburg on October 13th, the first event to be held at the new Market Street Park. The final completion date will be October 27th.

The council also approved Midwestern Engineers to begin the process of developing plans for the replacement of the Water Plant’s Telemetry System, known as Scadata. Currently a plan is in place to begin the process of making vast improvements to the Water Plant.

However, the telemetry systems for the plant have recently stopped working, causing water plant employees to need to monitor water levels and flow manually.

The telemetry system automatically monitors water levels for the lift stations, record over flows and their durations, monitors the water treatment process, and measures the inflow/outflow of water. This issue is already on the list of things to fix/improve for the water plant; however due to its importance, the water department desires to fix this issue first.

The estimated cost is $217,000, but that could change depending on the bids that come in for the project.

Finally, the council set a date for the public to seek information from Commonwealth Engineers and the council on the proposed Storm Water Master Plan. That meeting will give the public a chance to ask questions and give input on the proposal.  That date is set for September 18th at 5:30 pm at Huntingburg City Hall.
