Mary A. Heberer, 72 of Ferdinand passed away Friday September 7th in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born December 6, 1945 to Martin & Henrietta (Bachman) Auffart. She was united in marriage to Arthur Heberer on June 26, 1992 in St. Ferdinand Church. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2002.

Mary was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church, and its St. Anne’s Sodality. She retired from DMI as a secretary. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She enjoyed flowers, going out to lunch with her friends, her friends at the gym and various card clubs, and her lunches with Claire. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Surviving are one brother, Joe (Lyra) Auffart of Jasper, two sisters-in-laws, Carolyn Auffart and Jeanette Auffart both of Ferdinand. Two step-sons, Arthur Heberer III of Virginia and William Burgess Heberer Sr. of Jasper. One step-daughter, Mary Hudson Potts of Louisville. Also nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death also by 3 brothers, Anthony, Bob, and Jim Auffart and one sister, Ruth Auffart, 1 niece, Jenny Seaton and a nephew David Auffart.

Funeral services will be held Friday September 14th in Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church at 10:00 AM with burial of cremains to follow in the church cemetery. There will be no visitation prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Parish or a favorite charity.
