As a prelude to this weekend’s fest, the Huntingburg Herbstfest Miss and Pre-Teen Miss queen pageants were held last night at the Southridge High School auditorium.

Eight contestants competed in this year’s Miss Herbstfest contest.

Chaney Barrett was crowned this year’s Herbstfest queen by Jenna Brock the 2017 Miss Herbstfest. Chaney is the 16-year old daughter of Scott and Carla Barrett of Huntingburg and a junior at Southridge High School.

1st runner-up was Louisa Nino, the 18-year old daughter of Primitivo and Judy Nino of Huntingburg. She is a 2018 graduate of Southridge High School and is currently attending Indiana University. Louisa was also named Miss Photogenic.

2nd runner up was Joscelyn Blanchard. The daughter of Sheila Blanchard of Huntingburg. She is a 2018 graduate of Southridge High School and is currently attending The Salon Professional Academy where she is studying cosmetology.

Meanwhile, five contestants were entered in this year’s Pre-Teen Miss Herbstfest contest.

The 2018 Pre-Teen Miss Herbstfest was Annika Beard. Annika is the 11-year old daughter of Jason Beard and Vanessa Jacques of Huntingburg. She is a sixth-grade student at Southridge Middle School and was crowned by Pre-Teen Miss Herbstfest 2017 Karly Barnett.

1st Runner-up was Kara Schmitt, the 11-year old daughter of Chris and Sarah Schmitt of Holland. Kara is a sixth-grade student at Southridge Middle School. Kara was also named Miss Photogenic.

2nd Runner-up was 13-year old Gabrielle McDowell, the daughter of RaShawn and Brittany Curry of Huntingburg. She is an eighth-grade student at Southridge Middle School.

The 2018 Huntingburg Herbstfest will run from this Thursday through Saturday, September 27th till the 29th, at the Huntingburg City Park with a parade to take place at 2 pm this Sunday September 30th.
