A rollover crash along Mill Street near Buffalo trace Golf Course early Tuesday afternoon ended with the arrest of a Jasper man on a trio of charges including OWI.

Just before 1:30 pm yesterday the Jasper Police Department was informed of a roll over crash on Mill Street near Streicher Construction.

When they arrived in the scene officers were told that the driver of the pickup involved, 36-year old Aaron Schwartz of Jasper climbed from the vehicle and fled to the south-east wearing a red shirt.

Officers located Schwartz a short time later at the nearby Camelot Inn where police say he fled from officers on foot.

A brief foot pursuit ensued but Schwartz was taken into custody near Mill Street.

Police say Schwartz had been exiting the north drive of the Camelot when he encountered an approaching vehicle heading southbound in the northbound lane.

Schwartz told police that he swerved to the opposing lane to avoid the other vehicle and in doing so he went off the west side of the roadway and his truck rolled into the City of Jasper Owned fence along the Buffalo Trace Golf Course.

Damage to the fence was estimated at $3000.00.
Schwartz who suffered a contusion to the left forearm was found to be impaired.

He was charged with Operating While Intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .112% with the presence of THC and Meth as well. He was also charged for Leaving the Scene and Resisting Law Enforcement. He was taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security Center.

Jasper Police were assisted at the scene by the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department, and the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
