An Orange County couple was taken into custody after a nearly two month investigation by authorities into the death of an infant.

In a post from the Indiana State Police Jasper Facebook page Indiana State Police Detectives David Henderson and Shane Staggs, along with Orange County Sheriff’s Department Detective Jon Deaton and the Department of Child Services initiated an investigation into the death of a three-year old infant.

Back on December 3rd the Orange County 911 Dispatch Center received an emergency call from 7487 West County Road 750 North, West Baden Springs, reporting an unresponsive infant in the home.

The infant was taken to IU Heath in Paoli, were it was later pronounced deceased by Orange County Coroner Aaron Kemple and Deputy Coroner Tyler Phillips.

Police say investigators from both the Indiana State Police and Orange County Sheriff’s Department have worked many hours, if not days, trying to connect the dots in this tragedy.
Ultimately, law enforcement officers were able to obtain enough evidence to be granted two arrest warrants from the Orange County Circuit Court.

In custody are 22-year old Brittany Harris and 22-year old Tyler Harris of West Baden Springs. Both are charged with a Level 1 Felony count of Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Death.

Both were arrested on Tuesday without incident.

Both Tyler and Brittany Harris are currently in the Orange County Jail.
