A Jasper man serving as a temporary worker at a Ferdinand construction site was placed under arrest after he allegedly stole a drill from the area.

Around 4 o’clock Friday afternoon, officers with the Ferdinand Police Department were contacted by workers at the new Scenic Hills Care Center construction site along 700 block of Sunrise Drive in Ferdinand where a temporary worker, identified as 28-year old Darrel Harris Jr. of Jasper, was believed to have taken a drill belonging to Alstadt Plumbing.

Harris was later located driving westbound along East 5th Street and was pulled over at the corner of East 5th and Georgia Street.

Police say Harris was in possession of a drill worth 400-dollars and a pair of batteries for the drill valued at 80-dollars.

He was first taken to the Ferdinand Police Department for questioning and then taken to and booked into the Dubois County Security Center in Jasper on a Level 6 Felony count of Theft with a prior conviction.

Ferdinand Police was assisted by the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department
