Chad Gayso, the Forest Park Junior-Senior High School band director, has taken a position at Jasper High School as their band director in midst of James Goodhue’s retirement.

Earlier this week at the Greater Jasper Consolidated Schools board meeting, the school approved Gayso to lead the high school’s band program. Gayso will start in his new position at the end of the school year when James Goodhue, who has led the Marching Wildcats for 26 years, steps down.

Gayso not only is walking into new territory as Jasper High School’s Band Director, but he will also be stepping into new territory competitively. During his tenure at Forest Park, Gayso was able to obtain six state championships and five runner ups while competing in the Indiana State School Music Association’s Open Class D; now he will be competing in ISSMA Class B.

Jasper isn’t completely unknown territory however; Gayso has worked as a music arranger for the Jasper High School’s marching band program for the past seven years.

Gayso says he is grateful for his time as the leader of the Forest Park Marching Rangers and will never forget the memories he’s made.
