Joan Coble, age 96, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 31, 2019, in St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana.

Joan was born in Jasper, Indiana, on November 1, 1922, to Anton and Martina (Schitter) Mehringer.  She married Kenneth E. Coble on October 25, 1952, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana.  He preceded her in death on December 12, 1992.

Joan was a cook at the Shamrock Cafe and Yaggi’s Restaurant for many years.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper and the St. Ann’s Society.

She loved her family above all.  She also enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, and watching game shows and golf.

Surviving are two daughters, Denise (Kirk) Smith, Jasper, IN, Debra Coble, Jasper, IN, one granddaughter, Megan Smith, two sisters, Millie (Norb) Dick, Ireland, IN, Evelyn Sermershiem, Ireland, IN, and one brother, Vic Mehringer, Jasper, IN.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are three sisters, Cleopha Sage, Madeline Keusch, and Monica Knies, and six brothers, Ruben, Sylvan, Marvin, Donald, Tom and Rich Mehringer.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joan Coble will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Heart to Heart Hospice, or to the wishes of the family.
