Bernice (May) Brosmer, 77, of Dale, passed away Friday, May 3, 2019 at Northwood Good Samaritan Retirement Center in Jasper. Bernice was born January 16, 1942 in Troy to Raymond and Rosa (Oeding) Kersteins. She married Robert May on August 22, 1959 in Troy. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2003. Bernice then married Phillip Brosmer on January 8, 2005.

He preceded her in death on February 7, 2012. Bernice was a member of St. Meinrad Catholic Church. She belonged to several area quilting clubs. She enjoyed quilting, bingo, painting ceramics, baking and especially being with her grandkids. Bernice is survived by four sons, Mike (Janalee) May of Ferdinand, Mark May of Evanston, Donald May of Evansville and Larry May of Dale; three daughters, Angie (Larry) Schmitt of Evanston, Michelle (Paul) Troutt of Newburgh and Sue (Bruce) Flamion of Ferdinand; two brothers, Dennis and Bill Kersteins both of Ferdinand; three sisters, Marilyn (Oscar) Mullis of Bristow, Virlee Howe of Birdseye and Anna (Hilary) Jacob of Kyana; fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert and Phillip, and a sister, Helen Miley. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 AM CDT in St. Meinrad Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-7:00 PM CDT at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and also on Wednesday from 7-9:30 AM CDT at the funeral home.
