Dubois County Girl Scouts received avid recognition at the Highest Awards ceremony on May 9th at the Ferdinand Community Center. Adrienne Betz, a junior at Northeast Dubois High School, worked over 150 hours to develop and coordinate the construction of the Celestine Park Shelter House. MaKenna Goins, a senior at Pike Central High School, partnered with Jasper School of Taekwondo to create a Safety in Arms video on how to protect yourself and others in an active shooter situation. Both received the Gold Award, the highest honor a Girl Scout can achieve.
Troop 490 from Holland and Huntingburg, composed of Denae Reimann, Sidney Layton, Payton Neier, Emma Buening, Zoe Hollinden, and Emma Cashmore, aided the Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center with healthy snacks, music, and a wellness guide. Troop 357, including Brenna Hildenbrand, Brianna Williams, Cheyenne Scherle, Karis Wigand, Karleigh LeMond, Kella Lichlyter, Madison Heim, Rachel Hollinden, and Taryn Schmit, replaced the Keith Gettelfinger Park sign in Ireland, Indiana and also landscaped the surrounding area. Troop 357 of North Dubois also designed, constructed, and installed a Little Free Library Box at Jaycee Park in Jasper; Olivia Andrews, MacKenzie Poore, Breanna Smith, Lacy Huckelby, Lani Friedman, and Theresa Allen were involved in the project. These troops received the Silver Award, the second highest award a Girl Scout can earn.
Bronze Award Girl Scouts included Rhyanna Allen, Sarah Buechler, Lillie Campbell, Taliyah Fleming, Krysanya Grierson, Jovie Huddleston, Madilynn Hulse, Isabelle Meyer, Ariana Monroe, Elysia Pancake, Kyra Phillips, Abby Ruschau, and Eleanor Underwood of Troop 670 from North Dubois. Troop 349 Bronze Award Girl Scouts comprised Annika Beard, Roselyn Bounds, Molly Keusch, Jasmyne Knebel, Isabella Leibering, and Alexis Rummel. Also from South Dubois, Troop 693 Bronze Award winners included Elizabeth Kerkhoff, Rosalie Kerkhoff, Hannah Kuebler, and Lillian Kuebler.
Top cookie bosses for 2019 include Kyla Dickens of North Dubois Troop 47 with 752 boxes, Alexis Hawkins of North Dubois Troop 119 with 751 boxes, Summer Wilson of South Dubois Troop 55 with 750 boxes, Madelyn Beier of South Dubois Troop 596 with 596 boxes, Elizabeth Kerkhoff of South Dubois Troop 693 with 521 boxes, Rosalie Kerkhoff of South Dubois Troop 693 with 518 boxes, Hadley Hasenour of South Dubois 596 with 501 boxes, and Roselyn Bounds of South Dubois Troop 349 with 500 boxes.
