Next Act, Inc, the non-profit organization that owns and operates the historic Astra Theatre in Jasper, Indiana, released the second half of their 2019 season this morning.  This is the second season of entertainment to take place on the Jim and Pat Thyen Performance Stage in the theatre since major renovations took place in 2017.  

In the heat of the summer, watch the competition get hot with our second annual Rock Lotto on Saturday, July 20 at 7:00 pm EST.  The unique event will take 12 local musicians, divide them into three bands, and perform five songs each.  General admission tickets are only $10.00.

The band National Park Radio will be leaving the beauty of the Ozark Mountains behind for their concert on Saturday, August 24. The event will begin at 7:30 pm EST. Reserved seating tickets on the main floor and balcony are $14.95 with a $29.95 VIP option. The VIP ticket includes preferred parking in the Matrix parking lot, a $5.00 concession voucher, and a 30-minute pre-show meet-and-greet with the artist.

Then, on Saturday, September 14, travel through time while watching Back to the Future at 7:00 pm EST. Tickets are $5.00 each. 

The Verve Pipe will be heading to the Astra stage on Saturday, October 19 at 7:30 pm EST. Nineties music fans will remember their hit song “The Freshmen”.  Reserved seating tickets on the main floor and balcony are $29.95 with a $44.95 VIP option, which includes preferred parking in the Matrix parking lot, a $5.00 concession voucher, and a 30-minute pre-show meet-and-greet with the artist.

For the third year, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a cult-classic renowned for its audience participation, will play on Saturday, October 26 at 7:00 pm EST.  Once again, Astra-appropriate prop kits are available for $5.00 each, along with $5.00 general admission tickets.  This film is rated R.

The Way Down Wanderers will once-again return to the Astra on Saturday, November 23. at 7:30 pm EST.  Their concert will showcase their distinctive sound, which draws on elements of bluegrass, classic rock influences, and multi-part harmonies.  Reserved seating tickets on the main floor and balcony are $14.95 with a $29.95 VIP option, which includes reserved parking, a pre-show meet-and-greet with the artist, and a $5.00 concession voucher.

Follow a young boy’s magical adventure to the North Pole on The Polar Express.  The Astra encourages attendees to this event to get in the spirit of the film by wearing their pajamas. General admission tickets are $5.00, with the featured film, rated G, is scheduled for a matinee showing at 3:00 pm EST on Saturday, December 7.

The season will wrap up on Saturday, December 14, with a showing of Christmas Vacation at 7:00 pm EST.  This is the third season showing this holiday classic and movie-goers enjoy dressing in festive attire to fit the theme.  General admission tickets are $5.00. Rated PG-13. 

Tickets are on sale for each of these events at www.TheNextAct.org. An early-bird discount of $5.00 for concerts using code “AstraMusic” and $2.00 for movies using code “AstraMovie” is available on all tickets purchased through July 31.  Employees of all 2019 Business Members are eligible for an additional $1.00 discount on all tickets.
