The Mid-States Corridor Project is one step closer to becoming a reality.

To keep the public informed, INDOT and officials of the Mid-States Corridor project came together and held three different informational meetings throughout this week.

A Spokesperson for the Mid-States Corridor Project, Mindy Peterson says they’ve seen quite a turnout for the first round of public meetings.

At each meeting, community members had the chance to walk around to different stations to learn about each aspect of the project process.

Although they are still in the early planning stages of the project, Peterson Says they are making headway.

Project officials also handed out flyers and surveys to get the public’s input and get a better understanding of what the community wants out of this project. Peterson says this plays an essential role.

Peterson says the project partnership is the first of its kind in all of Indiana.

This was just the first round of meetings open to the public. We’re told there will another round of meetings in the near future.

The goal is for the corridor to start at the William Natcher Bridge near Rockport, and then follow State Route 231 through Spencer County and north through Dubois County. It would make the connection to I-69 either directly or through State Road 37.
