A Washington man was arrested on Tuesday ended a 10-month long child molesting investigation.

33-year-old John Ward is facing charges of child molestation and sexual misconduct.

The Washington Police Department alleges these events took place with the same victim when she was 13 years old and lasted until she was 16.

Officers began their investigation after the alleged victim, who is now 20 years old reported the crimes.

According to police, the molesting allegedly began while she was visiting a family member. Ward became drunk and started touching her, then escalated to sex.

The victim says she was in high school when it began.

She told officers that Ward had sex with her in different places including an apartment and his car.

She then told officers that she became involved in drugs and became suicidal. Due to this, she was put into a treatment center for several months.

The victim told police that when she turned 18 she came forward because she knew Ward would be released soon and feared he would start molesting a 13-year-old relative.

Ward had been incarcerated on unrelated charges, and the warrant was served to him by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office. The warrant charges him with Child Molestation and two counts of Sexual Misconduct with a minor.
