Alice G. Betz, age 94 of Schnellville, IN, passed away at 6:10 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, IN.
 
Alice was born in Duff, Indiana on June 9, 1925 to Anthony and Agnes (Mehringer) Hopf.  She married Leo F. Betz on May 11, 1948 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, IN.  He preceded her in death on March 30, 2008.
 
She was a homemaker and a member of Divine Mercy Parish – Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville and their St. Anne’s Society. She and her husband were recipients of the Simon Brute’ Award.   She was also a member of the Schnellville Home Ec., and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
 
She enjoyed quilting, gardening, feeding the birds, and baking cookies for the grandkids.   
 
Surviving are five daughters, Shirley Englert (Cyril), St. Anthony, Mary Wagner (David), St. Meinrad, Nancy Foll-Welp (Mark), St. Anthony, Ruth Gehlhausen (Daniel), Schnellville, and Rita McCain (Kent), Ireland, IN.  four sons, Larry Betz (Connie), Charlie Betz (Rosemary), Clarence Betz (Marilyn), and Gary Betz (Denise), all of Schnellville,  twenty five grandchildren, fifty nine great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and one brother, Fred Hopf of Jasper.  
 
Preceding her in death besides her husband were two sons who died in infancy, Raymond and Dennis Betz, and seven brothers, Bill, Rufus, Urban, Ed, Dan, Emil Paul, and Jerome Anthony Hopf.  
 
A Mass of Christian Burial for Alice G. Betz will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville, IN, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and from 9:00 a.m. until the 10am Mass time at church on Wednesday.  The Sacred Heart St. Anne’s Society will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to  Divine Mercy Parish, the Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund, or a favorite charity.
