Jasper Volunteer Fire Department respond to riding lawn mower fire

Firefighters responded to a lawn mower fire on Jasper’s west side on Tuesday.

Jasper Volunteer Fire Department Chief Kenny Hochgesang says they responded to Pat Schitter’s residence at 1649 North 350 West.

Chief Hochesang says Schitter just finished mowing his yard when an oil leak ignited, catching the riding mower engine on fire.

No injuries were reported. One truck and 18 firefighters were at the scene for about 20 minutes.
